21 Days of Grace – Day 20

2 Corinthians 12:9

2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me

This verse is actually the Lord’s response to Paul to remove or cure a “thorn” in his flesh. God’s answer was to say, My grace is all you need, for my strength, my power works best or is amplified best in weakness.

How do we respond when God tells us no?

Paul immediately knew that God’s “No” was always going to be better than a Yes to answered prayer.

God promised him that He would be with him at his weakest. Paul desired and valued Gods presence so much that he said he “gladly boasted” of his infirmities, his weakness so that Christ power would rest (dwell) on him. When we are most vulnerable, as we cry out to God, He promise that His power will be amplified and leverage our weakness to bridge any problem and lead us to victory. But Paul knew and we must also know, that growing in Gods presence and grace, is always the answer to every problem – it is the only solution.

Ephesians 1:6-7

Ephesians 1:6-7 NLT
So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

Stop whatever you are doing right now for a praise break! God has poured out His Glorious GRACE on us who belong to Jesus. We should all live in a constant state of gratitude toward God for all He does for us. A little grace goes a long way, but time and time again we see that God lavishes His grace on us and it is glorious ( full of His glory).

Verse 7 continues extol the very nature of God, His rich KINDNESS and GRACE and the very high price He paid for us to “belong to His dear Son”, His beloved. He purchased our freedom with the the blood of His beloved Son and forgave our sins. How can we be bitter, knowing that God loves us so much and has given us so much. Since we belong to Jesus we must be the conduits of that same Kindness and Grace that God lavishly pours out on us. Help us Lord, to be those vessels of glorious grace to a world that desperately needs Your touch in Jesus name.

Genesis 6:8

Genesis‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

This short verse really captivated me this morning. The scripture tells us that while the law came via Moses ( Old Testament), grace and truth came through Jesus Christ ( I John 1:17). So while many of us think of grace as a New Testament doctrine, we see that even before the law of Moses was established, God found grace in Noah! So the doctrine of Grace threaded, woven throughout the Bible. It is foundational.

This brief verse comes after a passage detailing the deep corruption and sin of man and God’s resulting displeasure and desire to wipe them out. Yet, in the midst of His displeasure, Noah stood out in God’s sight! Something in Noah made God pause and reconsider His plan. Noah found grace with God, because God saw Noah’s devotion, trust and faith in His word. He desired to honor God even in the midst of great evil, and was leading his family in righteousness. Noah risked ridicule and ostracism to follow what God had spoken in his heart.

This grace that God found in Noah is referenced extensively throughout the New Testament. It is the character of God. God is willing to spare His wrath, delay judgement, provide escape from destruction when He detects ONE heart willing to believe and trust in Him,even in the midst of vast corruption or persecution. In the Old Testament, we also see Abraham, petitioning God to spare Lot, delaying destruction of Sodom so Lot could escape. That was grace in action. God is a merciful and just God. He is looking for hearts turned toward Him to pour out His grace – In this case, God’s grace spared the utter destruction of the world to preserve and prepare his covenant with man. He truly is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Great is Your faithfulness to us, O’ God!

John 1:14

John 1:14 (NIV)
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Here, we see the love of God demonstrated so completely. Jesus, the Word of God, took on human form to dwell with us. Not just an angelic momentary visitation, sighting, or conversation like in the Old Testament, but Jesus actually lived among us, fellowshipping, teaching, ministering and touching us. And John says even though we have seen him as a man, we have also seen His divine nature, His glory , via miracles, his resurrection and walking so closely with Him attesting to His oneness with God.

And the very expression of Jesus (the Word) is FULL of GRACE ( empowering favor, benevolence, mercy kindness) and TRUTH (Jesus declared the truth only with all sincerity and integrity). How wonderful that we can go to His Word today and receive that grace and truth.

Romans 3:23-24

Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

I love this verse, because it is the great equalizer in the Kingdom of God. We ALL have sinned and have fallen short. With God’s glory as the standard, we can never measure up or make ourselves worthy. That is why our focus should always be on Jesus and stop comparing ourselves to one another. Such great news that we are all justified (made right in His sight) the same way…freely by His grace that comes by Jesus Christ! He is no respecter of persons. We just have to ask. And that is GREAT news!

2 Cor 9:8

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

I meant to post this scripture on MLK Day, because it illustrates one of his more famous quotes on being great through service. The partial quote says, “Anybody can be great because anybody can serve …. you only need a heart full of grace…”

The scripture states that God abundantly pours out grace to us, not only just to meet our needs, but to bless and serve others also. We are conduits/ vessels of God’s grace to others. It’s no wonder that Dr. King said it only takes a heart full of grace, because we can’t serve people well when we are on empty. We become resentful. But when we allow God to continuously pour His grace in and through us, we can joyfully serve others.

Jesus, our example who is all grace, said it this way Matt 20:26-28 “ Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Romans 6:14

Romans 6:14 NLT
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

God’s grace is more powerful than sin! We can truly walk and live in the freedom that God’s amazing grace brings. This verse establishes the authority and demonstrates the dominion that we have over sin, because Gods grace supersedes the law. That is great news!

It recognizes again that we cannot live perfect obedient lives in a legalistic way in our own strength, because that clearly did not work in the Old Testament. In fact in Romans 7, Paul talks about how hard it is to do it on our own. But the victory we have in Jesus’s sacrifice and victory on the cross and the freedom that His grace brings gives us dominion over sin in our lives.

Additionally, Gods grace molds our character to live in freedom. Galatians 5:22-23, says. “Now the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” When we allow God to transform us, the law is not necessary.

Lord, thank you for your grace in our lives that gives us dominion over sin. Help us to walk humbly before you that the fruit of the Spirit is manifested in our lives. Truly, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! #Grace #Dominion #freedom #law #fruitofthespirit

2 Tim 2:1

2 Timothy 2:1 NIV
You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

This verse exhorts us to be strong in the grace found only in Jesus. We learned previously we grow in grace as we grow in our knowledge in the Lord Jesus Christ. So take up the yoke of Christ and learn of Him and you will found yourself growing stronger and stronger in His empowering grace.

Titus 2:11-12

Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

God’s amazing grace offers salvation to everyone! It empowers us to “Just Say No” to those things that would derail or distract us from our purpose . His grace also empowers us to live self controlled, godly lives that honor Him and bring glory to God. We need His help to do the right things and make the right choices.

Acts 20:32

Day 11- 21 Days of Grace

Acts 20:32 (AMP)

And now I commend you to God [placing you in His protective, loving care] and [I commend you] to the word of His grace [the counsel and promises of His unmerited favor]. His grace is able to build you up and to give you the [rightful] inheritance among all those who are sanctified [that is, among those who are set apart for God’s purpose—all believers].

There is much in this scripture about Grace, I used the Amplified version above to detail how much power is in these passage. Here, Paul is giving a leadership exhortation as he is departing, entrusting the church ( his leaders) to God AND God’s message of grace which has the power to 1) build us up and 2) give us an inheritance with those who are sanctified ( those who have accepted Jesus into their lives) .

God’s grace via his Word builds, strengthens, corrects, establishes and makes us firm in Him as we navigate our lives. His grace also makes us heirs to the blessings, riches, salvation that comes with being Gods children. As we come to Christ, yield to His precepts, he makes us worthy and equips us to continue to be carriers of this grace to others.
